UX Writing Roles
Before diving straight into the roles of a UX Writer(User ExperienceWriter) I’ll love to first give a brief introduction to the term UX Writing and UX Writer.
What is UX Writing?
UX Writing is simply a microcopy that appears in the user interface design of a digital product that helps users engage with a digital product through on-brand, concise, and direct copy that communicates clear directives to users of a digital product.
Who is a UX Writer?
A UX Writer produces written content that becomes part of the user interface of a digital product, and supports, creating clear,concise,constructive and conversational microcopy thatll enhance the user experience of a product.
Roles of a UX Writer
Intermediary between a product and its potential users
Users need to clearly understand the purpose of a product even if they are potential users or not.They need instructions and a dose of reassurancen that they have signed up for a great deal. The product must be engaging to convience potential and non-potential users about the vision of the product and this can only be achieved with a clear, concise, and delightful copy.
The UX Writer role is to answer the users questions and guide them through with a clear and concise copy. This conversation is the core of UX writing.
Navigator of a product
The UX Writers areresponsible for writing all of the copy and microcopy for the user interface (UI) of a digital product that helps users navigate their interaction with the product. Some of the UX copies that a UX Writer is responsible for are Error messages,Notifications,Guides, Chatbot conversations etc.
Content Strategy
The UX Writer makes a plan through(audio,visual or written text)to achieve the business goal of a product. A UX Writer is obligated with the duty of understanding the voice, tone, terms, styles, audiences, and understand how to implement it within the user product experience.
The role of a UX Writer is making clear,concise,constructive,conversational and consistent microcopies for users of a product.
The roles of a UX Writer must not be undermined because the UX Writers contribute a whole lot to the success or failure of a product .
